DDA Smart Digital Dosing Pumps

Grundfos DDA Smart Digital dosing pumps are diaphragm metering pumps with microprocessor-controlled stepper drive — the accurate end of chemical injection. ForeverPure lists 23 DDA configurations.

Why DDA rather than a conventional metering pump

  • Stepper-driven dosing — the diaphragm moves slowly through the whole stroke instead of snapping, so the chemical goes in as a near-continuous feed rather than pulses.
  • 1000:1 turndown on the widest models — one pump covers a range that would otherwise need several.
  • FlowControl — detects air lock, cavitation, over-pressure and a leaking valve, and reports it rather than quietly under-dosing.
  • AutoFlowAdapt holds the set dose even as back-pressure moves.
Under-dosing is usually invisible until a compliance sample fails. The reason to pay for a smart dosing pump is not the pump — it is knowing the dose actually went in.

Reading a DDA model number

DDA 7.5-16 is 7.5 l/h maximum capacity at 16 bar maximum back-pressure. The letters that follow describe the liquid end: diaphragm and valve materials, connection type and control variant. Match the wetted materials to the chemical — PVC, PP, PVDF and stainless options exist for a reason.

Typical applications

  • Chlorination and dechlorination — sodium hypochlorite, sodium bisulphite
  • pH correction — caustic, acid
  • Antiscalant injection ahead of RO membranes
  • Coagulant and flocculant dosing
  • Corrosion inhibitor in cooling systems

Common questions

How do I read a DDA model number?

Capacity in litres per hour, then maximum back-pressure in bar. DDA 7.5-16 is 7.5 l/h at 16 bar.

Which liquid-end material do I need?

It depends on the chemical. PVC and PP suit many aqueous solutions; PVDF and stainless handle more aggressive duties. Tell us the chemical and concentration and we will confirm.

What is FlowControl?

On-board monitoring that detects air locks, cavitation, over-pressure and valve leakage and raises an alarm instead of silently dosing short.

Can a DDA replace a conventional solenoid metering pump?

Yes, and it usually improves dosing accuracy and turndown. Check capacity, back-pressure and connection type against the existing installation.
