A complete high-efficiency seawater reverse osmosis plant producing 50,000 gallons per day (200 m³/day) of potable water from seawater up to 40,000 ppm TDS. Energy recovery is by FEDCO HPB-20 hydraulic pressure booster, paired with a FEDCO MSS-2025 multi-stage Duplex stainless high-pressure pump — a combination built for continuous duty in marine and coastal service, with a 25+ year design life.

How the HPB turbocharger reduces power

Concentrate leaves the membranes at 788 psi, still carrying most of the energy the pump put into it. The HPB-20 is a turbocharger that captures that energy and uses it to boost the feed by 266 psi before the membranes. The high-pressure pump therefore only has to produce 543 psi rather than the 805 psi the membranes need, and the motor drops from about 75 HP to 50 HP. There is no mixing between the brine and feed streams, and transfer efficiency is greater than 83%.

Containerisation (optional)

The skid fits a standard 40 ft High Cube ISO container, which can be supplied fully insulated and air conditioned, with high-security double swing-out doors plus a side door, LED interior lighting, 3/4" plywood flooring on 16" centres, and rust-inhibitive paint with ForeverPure livery. The container is pre-wired for single-point power connection and pre-plumbed for feed, permeate and concentrate, and is fully assembled and factory tested before shipping.

What a containerised ForeverPure SWRO-HPB plant looks like

The unit filmed here is a SWRO-HPB-250TPD — 250 m³/day, about 66,000 GPD. It is a larger machine from the same HPB family, not the 200 m³/day system on this page. It is shown because the container fit-out is the same one described above: double swing-out doors plus a side door, LED interior lighting, plywood flooring, and the plant pre-plumbed and pre-wired inside before it ships.

Warranty

FEDCO MSS-2025 high-pressure pump: 18 months from ship date. FEDCO HPB-20 energy recovery device: 36 months from ship date. LG NanoH2O membranes carry LG's prorated element warranty, typically 3–5 years subject to their terms. Warranty on all items is the manufacturer's and is subject to correct installation, operation within the stated design envelope, and the pre-treatment and chemical dosing regime described above.

Frequently asked questions

How much water does a 50,000 GPD plant serve?

50,000 GPD is 200 m³/day, roughly 2.2 L/sec of continuous production. That typically covers a resort, a small island community, an offshore or coastal facility, or an industrial process water demand of that order.

What does the FEDCO HPB-20 actually do?

It is a hydraulic pressure booster — a turbocharger driven by the concentrate stream leaving the membranes. It recovers that energy and boosts the feed by 266 psi, so the high-pressure pump only has to deliver 543 psi instead of the 805 psi the membranes need. Transfer efficiency is greater than 83%, and there is no mixing of brine and feed. Bearings are non-metallic and product-lubricated, so there is no scheduled overhaul, no lubrication and no oil change.

Why Duplex and Super Duplex stainless steel?

Seawater at 36,000 ppm TDS is aggressively corrosive under pressure. The MSS-2025 pump shell and shaft are Duplex SS 2205 and the HPB-20 casing, rotor and valve stem are Super Duplex SS 2507, which is what supports the 25+ year design life in a marine environment. High-pressure piping is Duplex 2205 with Piedmont Super Duplex couplings rated to 1,200 psi.

Will it run on 50 Hz or 60 Hz power?

Both. The WEG W22 motor is dual rated 380/460 V, 3-phase, 50/60 Hz, so the system runs on either global supply without a transformer. A 50 HP Automation Direct DURApulse VFD provides soft start and speed control.

Is the system containerised?

Containerisation is optional. The skid is designed to fit inside a standard 40 ft High Cube ISO container, which can be supplied insulated and climate controlled, pre-wired for single-point power and pre-plumbed for feed, permeate and concentrate connections, and factory tested before shipping.
