Frequently Asked Questions: BW30-400/34i vs. BW30 PRO-400/34i
What happened to the FilmTec BW30-400/34i?
DuPont discontinued the original BW30-400/34i and replaced it with the FilmTec BW30 PRO-400/34i, the current-production successor in the same configuration.
What do “/34” and “i” mean?
“/34” denotes the 34-mil feed spacer for fouling-prone feeds. The “i” denotes iLEC™ interlocking end caps: elements lock directly to each other instead of relying on individual couplers and extra O-rings, which reduces O-ring leak points and permeate bypass, and makes vessel loading easier.
What is the difference between the old and PRO versions?
The PRO element is built on DuPont's current precision automated fabrication platform with the BW30 PRO family's tightened rejection specification. The original BW30-400/34i was rated 10,500 GPD with 99.5% stabilized / 99.0% minimum rejection (2,000 ppm NaCl, 225 psi); refer to the current DuPont data sheet for the PRO element's exact figures.
What is the same on both elements?
400 ft² active area, 34-mil spacer, iLEC interlocking end caps, polyamide TFC chemistry, 8″ × 40″ form factor.
Can I replace my BW30-400/34i with a BW30 PRO-400/34i without changing my system?
Yes — standard 8″ × 40″ element (1.125″ permeate tube), fits any standard 8-inch pressure vessel, 600 psig maximum operating pressure. No system modifications required.
